Sarah Blader, MSW, LISW

I know that looking for a therapist can be stressful. Are you feeling overwhelmed and unsure of where to start? Maybe even afraid of what to expect. I want to assure you that you are not alone. I have been there myself, it does get easier.

I work with autistic adults and/or ADHDers, or those that suspect they are neurodivergent. My clients often struggle with anxiety, shame, guilt, emotional regulation, trauma, and/or depression. I strive to learn every day about your specific needs so we can address what is getting in your way of living your best life.

I have a Master of Social Work from the University of Houston and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Iowa State University. Before I became a clinical social worker, I worked as a medical social worker in the home, outpatient, and hospital settings. I have further training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Grief Educator Certification.

I am a hetero, white, Gen X, neurodivergent, cis woman. I recognize that my identities and your identities are part of our lived experience. I continue to work on how my identities affect my clients and welcome conversations about identity in our sessions.

When I have looked for a therapist, I always try to look for someone who brings their authentic self. Dealing with anxiety and depression can be tough, but together we will work to identify and build on your strengths. I work hard at providing a secure and validating space where you feel safe and understood, with the goal of building your trust as we work together. Change, even for the better, can be challenging, and I’m here to support you through these challenges, whether they involve life transitions, college struggles, family changes, or physical health issues

I have a Master Degree of Social Work from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor of Social Work from Mount Mercy. Through my experience as a Respiratory Therapist and as a Medical Social Worker I have gained insight into the connection of mental and physical health.

Your experience with mental health is unique, so I adjust my approach to fit your individual needs. Together, we’ll uncover your strengths and build your sense of self. I use techniques from CBT, ACT, and DBT to offer support tailored just for you. The support I provide is LGBTQ+ affirming, body-positive, empowerment-based, and trauma-informed.

Together, we’ll prioritize your well-being through self-care and self-compassion. When you’re ready, please don’t hesitate to reach out—whether by giving me a call or scheduling a free initial consultation. Reaching out for support is a big step, and I’m glad you’re taking it. I look forward to talking with you soon. I have evening and weekend appointments available.
